Since the library re-opened in February 2007 it has flourished as a community facility with a greatly improved stock of books and new services. Over 14000 visitors were recorded in the first 12 months and visitor numbers are increasing.

Chiltern District Council acknowledged the library's success when, having been nominated by the Village Society, it won their 2007 Best Volunteer Group award.

Further evidence of the success is recent customer research. Of 91 customers researched, 90 stated that the library meets their needs (the other one said “almost”).

The success of the library is due to a number of factors. Not only does it have an excellent range of books to suit all age groups and tastes it also prides itself in having helpful and friendly volunteer staff, free internet access, free computer classes, storytime sessions for pre-school children plus it offers photocopying and laminating services.

The library is constantly seeking new funds to cover running costs and "one off" expenditure. A recent success with an application to the National Lottery has made it possible replace the worn out flooring with new carpet tiles. As a result, your Community Library is an even more attractive and welcoming place to visit whether you want to obtain a book, read a magazine, obtain local information or simply rest for a while.

Your Community Library welcomes book donations of both hard back and paper back books, however due to the fact that the shelves are full and  lack of storage space they would be grateful if donations are restricted to books that are very up to date and in brand new condition.

We also need Magazines.  These need to be reasonably current (up to 2 months old).  Do you subscribe to a magazine which you could donate to the library regularly when you have read it ?.  Or, do you buy an occasional copy which you could donate ?.  If so please take the Magazine(s) into the Library when you next visit.
